Day five: Seville

We awoke to another beautiful day. Our plan today was to check out some of the sites we hadn't seen yet.  We walked past the cathedral.
Our destination was Plaza Espana, site of the 1929 world's fair.  None of our travel guides had much to say about it, yet we thought it was stunning.  It is covered in ornate tile work including ceramic light posts and bridges. It was the featured in Star Wars as the palace on Naboo.

We walked along the river heading toward an area across the river.  Along the way we passed the golden tower, site of a naval museum, with a great lookout tower.
We tried to find a ceramic shop, but forgot that all the stores are closed for siesta from about 1 until 5. So instead walked home for our own siesta.  Before going on a carriage ride, Bridget and Lila talked to Bridget's class which was very exciting. It was a beautiful evening for a carriage ride, after which we ate in a tiny restaurant seated close to Patrick Stewart (of Star Trek and X-men fame) and his wife.

  1. Too cool! Patrick Stewart and Star Wars all on one day. I thought you were in Spain, not an intergalactic tour …
They eat late in Spain, huh? It's hard to get used to the Spanish schedule.
